DFA Berkeley is a network of students creating local and social impact through interdisciplinary design.
Design For America teaches human centered design, collaborating community partners and implements innovative solutions based on insights into human needs, rapid prototyping, user-testing, and interdisciplinary team work. DFA currently addresses national challenges in education, health, and environment.
Nationally acclaimed and featured in Fast Company, Forbes, and the Chicago Tribune, DFA beautifully integrates the art of design with community engagement to tackle local issues.Using the human-centered design lens, interdisciplinary students are trained to scope glocal challenges, discover who their users are through deep dives and community partnerships, and derive solutions that address their users’ needs and desires. Design for America works outside the academic calendar so that all projects can be deadline-less, and student teams can work on their projects further into implementation. If you’d like to know more about the program, please visit designforamerica.com, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
